DSH Perfumes, Pamplemousse

Oh Pamplemousse, how I so wanted to fall head over heels in love you...sadly, our relationship is complicated. 

I love citrus scents...I’m sure I’ve mentioned this fact more than once on Perfume Critic. Despite the fact that I can’t eat a lot of citrus fruits (including oranges, mandarins and tangerines, but not lemons & limes, funnily enough!), I love the smell of them in perfumes. 

So, when I received this fragrance to review (thanks to Dawn for supplying it, and to Marlen from Perfume Critic for passing it along!), I was excited to try it! I had recently bought a ‘pamplemousse’ (which is French for grapefruit) body butter from The Body Shop, and was enamoured with the smell! 

As soon as I put it on my wrist, I knew this scent was going to be a good addition to my summer scent wardrobe – the citrus notes are fresh, sweet & sour at the same time, bright, a little bit green and very much present. This is what a citrus fragrance should be like! 

10 minutes later...where did the citrus go?!? Very sadly, the scent has diminished very quickly! Putting my wrist to my nose, I can only smell green tea with a twist of lemon...but not much. This pretty much stays the same for as long as the scent sticks around. 

When I wear Pamplemousse, I find myself reapplying the fragrance after an hour, just to get that initial burst of citrus again! The longevity really lets the perfume down – but I think Dawn has done a great job at capturing the bubbly citruses at the start! If only those top notes had (actually, if the whole scent had) stuck around for a while longer.... 

Don’t get me wrong – I will be wearing this scent during summer, but not as an ‘all-day’ fragrance.
